(2026-IMO-03 (Rev.1)) Guidance on required actions in anticipation of the entry into force of the 2012 Cape Town Agreement (Rev.1).

This technical information has been prepared in view of the fact that following the prolonged absence of international safety standards for fishing vessels due to the delayed entry into force of the Torremolinos International Convention for the Safety of Fishing Vessels, 1977 and the Torrmolinos Protocol of 1993, the Cape Town Agreement of 2012-adopted with more practicable entry into force requirements-has recently met the conditions for entry into force and its date of entry into force has been established.

To support the effective implementation of the Agreement, this revised edition additionally includes the ratification status and implementation guidance for existing vessels as provided by the respective flag Administrations.

It is hoped that this technical information will serve as a useful reference not only for understanding the background and key requirements of the Agreement, but also for identifying the implementation approach of each flag Administration and facilitating the relevant work.
