Wind Energy
  • KAS’s full name is Korea Accreditation System. KR is a certificate authority body authorized by the Korean Agency for Technology and Standard to certificate wind turbine.
  • KR is now internationally recognized as an accredited certification body for wind turbines. Wind turbine design assessment is the core of the certification process which involves evaluating the conformity of the drawings and technical data submitted by the clients using international codes and standards to provide
Type certification, Component certification, Prototype certification and Project certification.
  • Type Certification
The purpose of type certification is to confirm that the wind turbine type is designed, documented and manufactured in conformity with design assumptions, specific standards and other technical requirements. Demonstration that it is possible to install, operate and maintain the turbines in accordance with the design documentation is required. Type certification applies to a series of wind turbines of common design and manufacture.
  • Project Certification
The purpose of Project Certification is to evaluate whether type-certified wind turbines and particular support structure/foundation designs are in conformity with the external conditions, applicable construction and electrical codes and other requirements relevant to a specific site. The Certification body evaluate whether the wind conditions, other environmental conditions, electrical network conditions and soil properties at the site.
  • Component Certification
The purpose of wind turbine component certification is to confirm that a major component of a specific type is designed, documented and manufactured in conformity with design assumptions, specific standards and other technical requirements.
  • Prototype Certificate
The purpose of wind turbine prototype certification is to enable that a new wind turbine type can be tested to obtain type certification.
