Introduction
  • AIP (Approval In-Principle) refers to the approval of principles for conceptual designs that are not mainly manufactured in the field of shipbuilding, offshore plants. The purpose is to clarify the level of reliability and validity of the technology appropriate for ships or offshore platforms through the application of relevant codes, standards, rules, and regulations, engineering analysis and risk assessment.
The AIP is an independent assessment of a novel concept and typically carried out at an early stage of a project to confirm its feasibility towards the developer.
Since it is carried out at an early stage of design, concept design, it will have to be based on a limited level of engineering detail, and therefore will mainly focus on the major hazardous factors to a development.
