Statutory Survey

International Conventions
- To convey KR's technical expertise and views in the international forum, KR has been actively participating in IMO assembly, committee (MSC, MEPC, FAL, TC, etc.) and sub-committee (HTW, SDC, NCSR, III, PPR, CCC, SSE) with the MOF (Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries) of Korea and correlated organizations.
- Also, KR has been reflecting the adopted and effectuated conventions into its Rules and Korean National requirements.
- In addition, KR has been holding periodical seminars for the ship owners, shipyards and correlated organizations to provide them with the background information on the newly adopted conventions allowing for trouble free application and enforcement.
Korean National Law
- To assist in the establishment and amendment of Korean national laws such as the Ship Safety Act, Marine Pollution Prevention Act and various standards for equipment installations, KR has been providing the Korean government with the technical expertise of its engineers. In doing so, KR has been making great contributions in ensuring the safety of ships and prevention of marine pollution and effective implementation of maritime safety policy of Korean government.
Authorization from the Administrations
- KR has been granted the authorization to conduct the ship surveys and issue certificates in accordance with the various international conventions from about 80 major shipping government administrations such as Panama, Liberia, Greece, Hong Kong, Singapore as well as Korea.
- As a result, KR has been able to conduct statutory surveys concurrently with the classification surveys on the ships which fly the flag of administrations listed in the table, thereby providing the ship owner with the convenience of time reduction and economic savings.
- As the number of authorizations from the administrations is a major indicator to gauge the international reputation of a classification society, KR has been endeavoring to increase the number of authorizations from various administrations.
Inspection
- KR has been engaged in a wide range of inspection and tests on the ship's article, equipment for marine pollution prevention and container of dangerous goods to maintain their highest quality.
