(2025-IMO-17(Rev.1)) Amendments to Pilot Transfer Arrangement Requirements Entering into Force on 1 January 2028(Rev.1).

This Technical Information summarizes the key amendments relating to pilot transfer arrangements, which were adopted at the 110th session of the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC 110) and are scheduled to enter into force on 1 January 2028.

The amendments make the requirements for the maintenance, inspection and familiarization of pilot transfer arrangements mandatory and include strengthened requirements concerning their installation, structure and design. These amendments will apply not only to new ships but also retrospectively to existing ships.

Rev.1 is issued to revise and supplement certain parts of the Technical Information. The main changes are as follows:

Clarification that modification of the accommodation ladder is not required where a pilot ladder of sufficient length is provided, taking into account a 15° adverse list (page 13)
Addition of guidance on means to prevent inadvertent operation of the accommodation ladder (page 16)
Revision of the requirements for supporting documentation for strong points (page 20)

This Technical Information supersedes 2025-IMO-17.
