This Technical Information provides a detailed analysis of the amendments to the International Code for the Construction and Equipment of Ships Carrying Liquefied Gases in Bulk (IGC Code), which are expected to be adopted at the 112th session of the IMO Maritime Safety Committee (MSC 112) and enter into force on 1 July 2028.
At the 111th session of the IMO Maritime Safety Committee (MSC 111), held in May 2026, the draft amendments, incorporating a number of revisions, were approved and are expected to be formally adopted at MSC 112 in December 2026. Although the amendments have not yet been formally adopted, KR hopes that this Technical Information will serve as a useful reference to assist the industry in understanding the amendments and preparing for their timely and effective implementation.
This Technical Information has been revised and issued as Revision 2 to reflect the outcomes of MSC 111, discussions within IACS, and comments received from the industry since the publication of Revision 1 in February 2026.
