(2025-IMO-15) IMSBC Code Amendments (08-25).

The International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes Code (here-in-after referred to asthe IMSBC Code) provides the requirements for safe transportation of dry bulkcargoes, and applies to ships carrying the one listed in Appendix 1 of theCode, including bulk carriers, general cargo ships, etc.

 

Unlike the four-year amendment cycle of the SOALS Convention and its associated mandatory Codes, the IMSBC Code is amended every two years. In line with this schedule, the International Maritime Organization has adopted amendments to the IMSBC Code (08-25) through resolution MSC.575(110), with an entry-into-force date of 1 January 2027. These amendments may be early implemented on avoluntary basis from 1 January 2026.

 

This Technical Information is issued to inform all relevant stakeholders, including shipowners operating vessels subject to the IMSBC Code, of the forthcoming amendments (08-25) and their implications.
