1. Please be informed that 2025 Classification Technical Rules have been amended as below/attachments, 

   and you are kindly requested to apply these amendments on the relevant works.

(Classification and Surveys)

1) Amendment to the Special Provisions for Ships Subject to the Korean Ship Safety Act or the Fishing Vessel Act

: Deletion of the condition that excluded cargo handling ramps from the scope of cargo handling appliances.

Rules/Guidance for the Classification of Steel Ships, Pt 7

(Special Service, Ch5, 6)

On or after 1st Jan. 2026

(The contract Date for ship construction)

1) Res.MSC.524(106) reflected etc.

: Revision of requirement for Hi-Mn Austenitic Steel for cryogenic service

Rules/Guidance for the Classification of Steel Ships, Pt 9

(Additional Installation, Ch 2)

On or after 1st Jan. 2026

(The application date for survey)

1) Addition of the certificate type CG(SOF) and amendment of the timing for certificate issuance.

2) Revision of Annual Survey Interval

: Change of the default setting from ILO Convention No.152 (12 months) to the SOLAS periodic inspection scheme.

3) Revision of Annual Survey Items

: The operational test of safety and protective devices is revised to be a mandatory item.

4) Incorporation of MSC.1/Circ.1663

: Reflection of the requirements related to maintenance and operating manuals.

Rules/Guidance for the Classification of Ships Using LFF

On or after 1st Jan. 2026

1) Res.MSC.524(106) reflected etc.

: Revision of requirement for Hi-Mn Austenitic Steel for cryogenic service

Guidance for

Offshore Support Vessel(OSV)

On or after 1st Jan. 2026

(The application date for survey)

1) Amendments Following the Establishment of Guidance for Anchor Handling Appliance

: Revised to refer to the requirements of the guidance for Anchor Handling Appliance for anchor handling winches and associated equipment.

On or after 1st Jan. 2026

(The installation date of the anchor handling appliance)

1) New establishment.

: Incorporation of the requirements of MSC.1/Circ.1662, as well as harmonization with relevant provisions for cargo handling appliances.

 

 

2. Furthermore, please be informed that amendments to Rules and Guidance relating to the Rules 

   will be incorporated in the 2027 edition of KR Classification Technical Rules, while the amendments to 

   Guidance will be reflected in the 2026 edition of the KR Classification Technical Rules.
