             (Rules/Guidance for the Classification of Steel Ships, Pt 1&Pt 8/

              Rules for the Classification of Ships Using LFF / Guidance for Approval of Service Suppliers)

Application : On or after 1st Jan. 2026

 

 

1. Please be informed that 2025 Classification Technical Rules have been amended as below/attachments, 

    and you are kindly requested to apply these amendments on the relevant works

.

Classification Technical Rules

Effective Date

Main Amendments

Rules/Guidance for the Classification of Steel Ships, Pt 1

(Classification and Surveys)

On or after 1st Jan. 2026

(Date of which the application for survey is submitted)

1) IACS PR42(Rev.1 Nov. 2024) reflected etc.

 : The term related to QSCS amended for clarity.

 

2) IACS PR1A(Rev.10 Oct. 2024) reflected : Regarding TOC(Transfer of Class), additional plans/documents required for Passenger Ships have been newly added.

Rules/Guidance for the Classification of Steel Ships, Pt 8

(Fire protection and Fire Extinction)

On or after 1st Jan. 2026

(Date of which the application for survey is submitted)

1) Res.MSC.550(108) reflected etc.

 : Introduction of New Fire Safety Requirements for Vehicles, Special Category Spaces, Open/Closed Ro-Ro Spaces, and Weather Decks Intended for the Carriage of Motor Vehicles.

Rules for the Classification of Ships Using LFF

On or after 1st Jan. 2026

(Date of which contract of construction is assigned)

1) Res.MSC.550(108) reflected etc.

 : Revision of wording for clarification of requirements, etc.

Guidance for Approval of

Service Suppliers

On or after 1st Jan. 2026

(Date of which the application for survey is submitted)

1) IACS UR Z17(Rev.19 Oct. & Rev.20 Nov 2024) reflected

 : The term related to QSCS amended for clarity etc.

 

2) Details related to “Practical Demonstration” deleted

 : In case of the deleted

sentences, they are not included in IACS UR Z17.

 

2. Furthermore, please be informed that these amendments will be included in 2026 edition on KR Classification Technical Rules 

  which will be published in the first half of 2026 .
