<Regulations>

1. In accordance with the Directive (EU)2019/883, all ships calling at an EU port shall deliver all their waste carried onboard to a reception facility in accordance with the relevant norms laid down in the MARPOL Convention or provide information that there is sufficient dedicated storage capacity for all waste that has been accumulated and will be accumulated during the intended voyage of the ship until the next port of call.

2. Commission Implementing Regulation (EU)2022/89 has been issued, which includes the calculation method for sufficient dedicated storage capacity for the above mentioned waste and provides guidance on the generation of water by type (as per MARPOL Annex I, IV, V and VI).

 1) Calculation method for sufficient dedicated waste storage capacity:

   - UWC (%): Used Waste Capacity

   - A: The estimated amount of waste type to be retained on board at the time of departure from the port of call (expressed in m3)

   - M: The maximum dedicated storage capacity (expressed in m3)

 2) Threshold: The value set out in Table 1, for the corresponding type of waste and next port of call.

3) Compliance Criteria: UWC(%) < Threshold

4) Waste Generation Rate for Annex I, IV and V to the MARPOL Convention

4) Waste Generation Rates for Annex VI to the MARPOL Convention on Waste (Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems, ‘EGCS’)
