KR published its Autumn 2023 issue of the KR Decarbonization Magazine on 31 Oct.
In this autumn edition, we analyze the impact on the industry of the major decisions taken at the 80th session of the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) in August, including the adoption of the 2050 carbon neutrality target and the entry into force of the 2027 medium-term measures, as well as a range of technical and economic responses to these decisions.
To support shipping companies' efforts to improve their Carbon Intensity Index (CII), which is mandatory from this year, the magazine presents CII statistics and insights for more than 1,700 ships verified by KR based on 2022 fuel consumption, as well as responses to improve the CII.
A comprehensive overview of various aspects of fuel storage systems, including their characteristics, design, materials, temperature, and pressure, specifically for alternative fuels and their influence on retrofit costs is covered as well.
