KR Publishes 2022 ESG Report
19 Jan. 2023

ESG strategy for each sector and KR’s key ESG achievements at a glance

KR has published its first ESG report covering its environmental, social and governance progress for 2022.

The report features KR’s key ESG achievements, including green technology and certification promotion efforts; establishment of a digital-based safety inspection and training system; customer convenience enhancement; establishment of a system for fair work performance; ESG and transparent ethics management based on a dedicated department promotion; and strengthening employee safety.

KR introduced ISO 37001, an international standard for anti-corruption management systems, in 2017, before ESG emerged as a major management topic in Korea, and has been striving to foster a transparent and upright organizational culture by enacting various safety systems and anti-corruption guidelines. In addition, since the late 2000s, KR has been conducting various activities to lead the eco-friendly era by presenting green international trends and countermeasures to maritime stakeholders and providing digital solutions.

The report also includes efforts to enhance employee happiness, such as improving the employee welfare system, operating a daycare center at work, and expanding flexible working hours, as well as strengthening internal and external communication, such as enacting the Human Rights Charter and launching a grievance counseling committee that includes external members.

KR Chairman & CEO LEE Hyungchul said, “KR's sustainability report is a report that publicizes KR's efforts as a leading ESG company in the Korean maritime industry by transparently disclosing ESG management activities. We will continue to advance our ESG management as a trusted leading classification society."
