Inauguration ceremony held on 27 December 2022
The current Chairman and CEO of Korean Register (KR), LEE Hyungchul extends his tenure for three more years, as he was elected as the company’s 25th Chairman and CEO at the extraordinary meeting of KR’s general assembly on December 22, 2022. This is the first time in KR's history that a KR executive has been re-elected as Chairman and CEO.
At the inauguration ceremony, LEE said:
“I believe that my reappointment is due to the remarkable achievements of the past three years. These accomplishments were possible thanks to the dedication and efforts of all of you who believed in me. I would like to share my pride and professional satisfaction with you all.”
The Chairman and CEO shared his vision of taking the lead as the maritime technology leader, maintaining the best survey quality, enhancing competitiveness in new business areas, and obtaining autonomy in management. By providing the best services in technology development and ship safety, LEE requested KR members to put customer value first and provide the best service to customers so that KR can become “a class society that customers choose to join”, taking a step forward to the target of 100 million GT by 2025.
Over his 30 years with KR, Lee has held many senior roles, leading key KR departments including the statutory service team, the London branch office, the overseas business development team and Seoul branch office. He had also served in the position of Executive Vice President of KR’s Business Division before he was appointed to the Chairman and CEO for the first time back in December 2019.
