KR held an opening ceremony for its new Sejong office on 28 April. The event was attended by officials from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, IMO Korea, the Korea Maritime Transportation Safety Authority (KOMSA), and other related organizations.
As the global maritime industry is rapidly moving towards digital and green shipping, the sector is changing rapidly, with increasing demand for alternative fuels and new IT technologies.
The new office was established to provide KR with full-time cooperation with Korean government and maritime organizations including the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the IMO. It will also have the responsibility of providing rapid support for various maritime safety policies and technologies.
The KR Sejong office will contribute to the development of domestic maritime technology and provide prompt and professional technical services through cooperation with related organizations. These include participation in national research and development projects, the development of digital green ship certification systems and international standards, and key technologies to ensure compliance with greenhouse gas regulations.
