[KR Machinery Rule Development Team / Machinery Team] Presentation at Technical Seminar on Marine Biofuels

On January 20, the Machinery Rule Development Team and Machinery Team under KR’s Technical

Division attended the Technical Seminar on Marine Biofuels, hosted by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries’

Engine & Machinery Business Unit. At the seminar, KR shared regulatory and technical issues related

to the application of marine biofuels, as well as key industry concerns.

During the session, the teams presented classification-related considerations, including global trends

in biofuels for international shipping, NOx certification procedures, fuel quality, and key operational

considerations. They also listened to and discussed various practical challenges currently faced

by the industry in applying biofuels, as well as future application prospects.

The seminar was attended by around 20 representatives from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries’ Engine & Machinery Business Unit, as well as stakeholders from major organizations, including HMM, facilitating

in-depth and meaningful discussions.

Based on industry feedback presented at the seminar, the Machinery Rule Development Team and

the Machinery Team reviewed regulatory and technical issues related to biofuels and plan to

incorporate these insights into the development of class notations and technical support for the

application of alternative fuels in the future.
