KR Chairs the 2025 TSCF Meeting in Dubai
18 Dec. 2025

KR chaired the Tanker Structure Co-operative Forum (TSCF) meeting held in Dubai, UAE, from November 18 to 20.

Established in 1983, TSCF is an international cooperative body dedicated to improving the structural safety of oil tankers to enhance maritime safety. The forum consists of major oil companies such as BP and TotalEnergies, large shipowners, and leading classification societies. TSCF provides the global maritime industry with technical guidelines related to hull structural integrity assessments, defect analysis, corrosion prevention, and more.

At this year’s meeting, in-depth discussions were held on key technical issues, including the final approval of the Vibration Information Paper, which compiles guidelines related to ship vibration, and updates concerning the Performance Standard for Protective Coatings (PSPC).

The Vibration Information Paper summarizes the effects of hull vibration on cargo damage, structural fatigue, and noise, based on the practical experiences and case studies of shipowners, shipyards, and classification societies. It also includes recommended mitigation measures and structural reinforcement practices to consider during ship design and operation. The document received final approval at the meeting and will be officially published on the TSCF website.

In addition, TSCF plans to issue a new document outlining findings from performance assessments of PSPC-compliant coatings on ships, along with recommended areas for improvement.

KIM Yeontae, KR Executive Vice President and Chair of TSCF, stated, “We remain committed to helping TSCF continuously contribute to the global maritime community.”

Updates on TSCF activities and latest news are available on the newly launched official LinkedIn page.
