18 Dec. 2025

KR successfully hosted the “Global Ro-Ro Community 2025 Autumn Meeting” on November 18 in Seoul, bringing together key stakeholders from the global Ro-Ro transport sector to discuss decarbonization strategies.

The meeting was co-hosted by KR, Hyundai Glovis, Wallenius Wilhelmsen, EUKOR Car Carriers, and the Smart Freight Centre (SFC). A wide range of global organizations—including Ro-Ro carriers, automotive manufacturers, cargo owners, shipyards, classification societies, and ESG policy institutions—participated to explore concrete measures for accelerating the green transition of the Ro-Ro transport market.

The seminar covered core topics shaping the future competitiveness of the Ro-Ro sector, including

  • the IMO Net-Zero Framework and global regulatory trends,
  • Scope 3 GHG emissions calculation using the GRC methodology,
  • application of the Book & Claim system, and
  • approaches to establishing green shipping corridors.
Participants emphasized the need for collective industry action in response to tightening international regulations, sharing practical and actionable collaboration measures for decarbonization. The networking dinner following the seminar further encouraged active exchanges among attendees, broadening the scope for cross-industry cooperation.

A representative from Wallenius Wilhelmsen commented, “We appreciate KR’s strong support in hosting and successfully organizing this meeting. The seminar reaffirmed the importance of collaboration in addressing the decarbonization challenges facing the Ro-Ro sector, and it served as a meaningful opportunity that offered practical learning for the wider industry.”

SONG Kanghyun, Head of KR’s DecarbonizationㆍShip R&D Center, said, “This meeting provided a meaningful opportunity to explore the direction of energy transition in the Ro-Ro transport sector and to search for practical solutions together. KR will continue to work closely with global partners to propose concrete and feasible technical and policy solutions and actively support the industry’s sustainable transition.”
