18 Dec. 2025

KR has released Vol. 11 of the KR Decarbonization Magazine, featuring the latest developments in maritime decarbonization technologies and international regulatory trends.

This issue focuses on the practical measures the maritime industry must now adopt, as the sector moves from planning into the execution phase of the decarbonization transition.

Key articles include

  • Data-driven performance analysis for ships and estimation of energy-saving device (ESD) efficiency
  • Technical challenges and operational considerations of biofuels
  • An interview with Evi Politi, R&D Director at Danaos Shipping
In the interview, Evi Politi provides insights into Danaos Shipping’s comprehensive decarbonization strategy. She explains how the company is building a data-driven decision-making framework powered by alternative green fuels and digital platforms, while also strengthening crew training and regulatory compliance across its fleet.

SONG Kanghyun, Head of KR’s DecarbonizationㆍShip R&D Center, stated, “The maritime industry has moved beyond setting targets — it is now entering a stage where tangible results must be demonstrated. KR will continue serving as a bridge that links technological reliability with industrial sustainability, helping shape a sustainable future for global shipping.”

Since its launch in 2022, the KR Decarbonization Magazine has served as KR’s flagship technical publication, offering regular insights into international regulations from bodies such as the IMO and EU, along with coverage of emerging eco-friendly technologies. The magazine is published in both English and Korean and is available on the official website (https://kr-decarbonization.co.kr) and the KR homepage (https://www.krs.co.kr).
