KR Holds the 2025 KR Hellenic Committee Meeting
18 Dec. 2025

KR hosted the 2025 KR Hellenic Committee Meeting and KR Hellas Night in Athens, Greece, on 14 November.

The KR Hellenic Committee, now in its 18th year, is held annually to share the latest technical developments and discuss key industry issues with senior executives from major shipping companies and maritime organizations based in Athens and surrounding regions.

This year’s committee brought together around 30 prominent figures from the Greek maritime sector. Participants exchanged insights on critical challenges facing the global maritime industry — including strategies for responding to decarbonization regulations — and explored practical solutions.

The meeting also featured presentations on a range of timely topics, including the latest energy-saving device (ESD) technologies, trends in eco-friendly container ship newbuildings, and the potential application of next-generation nuclear technologies such as marine small modular reactors (SMRs). These sessions received strong interest and positive feedback from attendees.

Following the committee meeting, approximately 250 guests — including H.E. Lim Joung-hyun, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Greece, and members of the KR Hellenic Committee — attended the KR Hellas Night, an event designed to strengthen engagement and collaboration within the maritime community.

LEE Hyungchul, Chairman & CEO of KR remarked, “Although the adoption of the IMO’s net-zero framework has been postponed by one year, the direction of global maritime decarbonization is already clear. KR will continue to advance eco-friendly and decarbonization technologies and actively support the industry in navigating this transition.”
