Korean Register (KR) welcomed fifteen future maritime leaders from the World Maritime University (WMU) to its headquarters on March 25, reinforcing its commitment to international collaboration in the maritime sector. * World Maritime University is a graduate school established by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in Malmö, Sweden in 1983. It provides master's and doctoral programs in maritime safety, environment, logistics, and ocean policy for government officials and public institution employees from IMO member states.
The WMU student visit to Korea has been conducted annually since 2004 to introduce Korean maritime policies and industry practices while strengthening international cooperation. During the visit, students engaged in discussions on green technologies and the future of a sustainable maritime industry with KR experts and created valuable networking opportunities. KIM Yeontae, Executive Vice President of KR Technical Division and a WMU alumnus himself, stated: “We hope that the WMU students will gain broader perspectives as future global maritime experts through experiencing Korea's advanced maritime infrastructure. And KR will remain committed to supporting our employees’ education at WMU to enhance global competitiveness.”
