KR Awards AiP to HD Hyundai’s Ship Cyber Resilience Technology

Korean Register (KR) has awarded an AiP (Approval in Principle) to HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HD HHI) and HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE) for their innovative 'Technical Procedures and Methodology for Implementation of Ship Cyber Resilience (IACS UR E26).' This milestone achievement marks the successful collaboration between KR and HD Hyundai in the development of ship cyber resilience technology.

The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) has set out a phased strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from shipping by 70% from 2008 levels by 2050, and the shipping industry is taking a multi-pronged approach to achieve this goal.

Technical Training on Wind Power Successfully Organized by KR

KR organized the Wind Power Technology Training on May 11-12 at the KR International Education and Training Center. As the global shift to green energy accelerates, the South Korean government and local governments are promoting offshore wind projects in Ulsan, Donghae and Jeju as part of their green energy policies to promote the offshore wind industry and utilize it as a future energy source.

In recent years, the market demand for small and medium sizes gas carriers/bunkers/barges has increased for short and medium distance trade. Also, the demand for eco-friendly gas-fueled vessels is growing rapidly due to IMO Sulphur cap.
