
[Domestic Business Development Team] 5th Newbuilding Technology Exchange Meeting Held

KR Domestic Business Development Team held the "5th Newbuilding Technology Exchange Meeting" on 28 May at the Lotte Hotel in Seomyun, Busan for newbuilding technical-team personnel from major domestic shipping companies along with KR staff.
The meeting was organized to share the latest technology trends and key newbuilding issues arising from the growth of alternative ship fuels and tightening international environmental regulations, and to introduce KR's technical response directions.
Presentations and technical exchanges centered on topics of high industry interest, including safety regulations and technical requirements for ammonia-fueled ships and new building impact analyses based on the outcomes of IMO MEPC 84.
Officials from major domestic shipping companies also shared a range of views on international regulatory changes and eco-friendly ship technologies, making the meeting a venue for substantive technical exchange and networking.
KR plans to continue strengthening customer support through ongoing technical exchange and communication with major clients, and to secure the technical competitiveness needed for the era of eco-friendly and digital transformation.
[Pohang Branch] Seminar on Fire Prevention and Response for Car Ferries Transporting Electric Vehicles Held

Korean Register (KR, Chairman & CEO Lee Yongsok) Pohang Branch held a seminar on "Fire Prevention and Response for Car Ferries Transporting Electric Vehicles" on 7 May, as part of its first-half customer satisfaction efforts.
Some 30 participants attended — including officials from the Pohang Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries, the Pohang Coast Guard, the Korea Maritime Transportation Safety Authority (KOMSA), and local car-ferry operators — showing strong interest in fire-prevention and response measures for EV-carrying vessels.
The seminar covered firefighting equipment requirements along with ship safety technologies and international trends for responding to electric-vehicle fires, with practice-oriented content to aid understanding. The Q&A session that followed drew a range of questions from government and shipping-company officials, prompting lively discussion.
The seminar was seen as a meaningful occasion for sharing KR's technical capabilities and customer-service efforts and for deepening mutual understanding between related agencies and the industry.
KR plans to continue providing technical and institutional support to ensure the safety of EV-carrying vessels and strengthen fire-response capabilities going forward.
[Gas Carrier Survey Technology Team] LNG-Fueled Ship Training Provided for a Shipowner

Korean Register (KR, Chairman & CEO Lee Yongsok) Gas Carrier Survey Technology Team conducted LNG-fueled ship training for newbuilding-team supervisors of Sido Shipping at the Sido Shipping conference room from 20 to 21 May.
Sido Shipping has ordered 20 LNG-fueled RoRo ships from China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd., with the vessels scheduled for sequential delivery from 2027 to 2030.
The training centered on an overview of LNG-fueled ships and the structure of LNG dual-fuel engines, the key requirements of the IGF Code, and related case studies.
Drawing on their LNG-propelled-ship newbuilding experience, participants showed strong interest in the content and actively discussed the IGF Code requirements and their practical application.
KR plans to continue providing technical support and training in the gas carrier field, including LNG-fueled ships, going forward.
