[GAS Carrier Survey Technology Team] KR Holds Technical Seminar to Strengthen LNG Bunkering Vessel Newbuilding Survey Capabilities

 

 

 

Korean Register (KR)’s Busan Branch held a two-day technical seminar from April 9 to 10 at the Busan Headquarters Training Center to strengthen survey response capabilities for LNG bunkering vessel newbuilding projects.


The seminar was organized to enhance field surveyors’ capabilities for LNG carrier newbuilding surveys based on the IGC Code for LNG bunkering vessel projects currently undergoing newbuilding surveys by KR.
Senior surveyors from the Busan Branch and principal surveyors from the Ulsan Branch participated in the seminar, which included training sessions and discussions focused on key aspects of LNG carrier newbuilding surveys and the application standards of the IGC Code.

Interactive Q&A sessions and experience-sharing discussions were conducted based on actual field survey cases, providing an opportunity to improve practical understanding among branches and establish a shared understanding of survey standard applications.

Throughout the two-day seminar, participants demonstrated strong engagement and focus, deepening their understanding of LNG bunkering vessel survey technologies and laying the groundwork for improving future newbuilding survey quality and customer satisfaction.


 


[Shanghai Branch Office] KR Holds Technical Seminar for 7,600-CEU LNG Dual-Fuel PCTC Newbuilding Project

 

 

On April 13, Korea Register (KR)’s Shanghai Branch held an event at a shipyard in China related to the 7,600-CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTC newbuilding project ordered by Sido Shipping.


The project consists of 20 vessels scheduled to be constructed and delivered sequentially over time. With this event, the project has officially entered the full-scale execution phase.


The event was attended by key representatives from the shipowner and shipyard, along with officials from KR’s Shanghai Branch, who reaffirmed their commitment to close cooperation for the successful execution of the project.


In particular, the event served as an opportunity to strengthen the cooperative framework among the shipowner, shipyard, and classification society, with expectations for continued collaboration built on mutual trust throughout the entire construction process.


Following the event, a kick-off meeting and technical seminar were held for project stakeholders, as well as shipyard quality and technical personnel.


During the seminar, participants shared key technical matters related to the LNG fuel system and the project’s major plans, while also discussing major technical issues, including the latest amendments to the IGF Code and hazardous area classification within cargo areas.


The seminar also served as a platform for technical exchange aimed at sharing key technical requirements during the early stages of the project and strengthening the collaborative framework. Participants positively evaluated the seminar as a meaningful opportunity for advance technical consultation.


KR will continue striving to support the successful execution of newbuilding projects and provide high-quality survey services through close cooperation with shipowners and shipyards.

 


[Statutory Service Team] KR Holds Seminar on Polar Code Application for Fishing Vessels Operating in Polar Waters

 

 

On April 10, Korea Register (KR)’s Statutory Service Team held a seminar introducing relevant standards applicable to fishing vessels operating in polar waters and supporting practical understanding in the field.


The seminar focused on key matters that shipping companies can reference during actual operations and provided an opportunity to share various perspectives on establishing a safe operating environment in polar waters.


The program was also designed with a strong emphasis on practical applicability, drawing considerable interest from participants and receiving positive feedback for its usefulness in real operational settings.


KR will continue providing technical support and information to help the industry better understand and smoothly implement relevant regulations and standards in the future.
KR also extended its appreciation to all related parties who contributed to the successful operation of the seminar.
