On April 9, the Korean Register (KR) signed a joint development project (JDP) agreement with Avikus to jointly develop the HiNAS Cloud Service. The agreement focuses on applying KR’s NTQ technology to the HiNAS Cloud Service currently being developed by Avikus and is expected to serve as an important milestone in strengthening cooperation between the two organizations in advancing autonomous navigation technologies.
Since August 2022, KR’s Technical Division has been collaborating with Avikus on temporary and permanent installation projects for HiNAS Navigation and HiNAS Control—two autonomous navigation assistance systems developed by Avikus. As a result of this collaboration, HiNAS Control has now been successfully installed permanently on more than 40 vessels as of 2026.
In particular, KR participated in the first vessel application projects for both Avikus’ HiNAS Navigation and HiNAS Control, further strengthening KR’s technological competitiveness and external credibility.
Going forward, KR’s Ship System Solution Team plans to continue close collaboration with the Digital Solution Team and related departments to help drive new business opportunities through leadership in autonomous navigation and digital technologies.
