KR hosted a seminar for shipping companies on 14 October in Busan, featuring invited Port State Control Officers (PSCOs) from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) and Maritime New Zealand.
The event was organized to strengthen shipping companies’ PSC response capabilities and enhance practical cooperation with port authorities. Around 60 representatives from more than 40 shipping companies participated, demonstrating strong industry interest.
Senior PSC officers from both AMSA and Maritime New Zealand attended in person and delivered presentations on PSC policy trends, major deficiency cases, and priority inspection. Using actual cases identified in their respective ports, the speakers shared specific examples and recommended improvements, providing participants with practical insights for developing more effective PSC compliance strategies.
YOON Boogeun, Executive Vice President of KR emphasized that “many responsibilities may be delegated to private organizations, but safety and the environment remain core areas that cannot be outsourced,” adding that, as PSC inspections become increasingly critical, direct engagement between shipping companies and port authorities is essential in aligning with global standards and expectations.
