On 15 October, KR successfully hosted the 2025 KR Digital Technology Seminar at The Plaza Hotel in Seoul. Under the theme “AI Expansion and Transformation in the Maritime Industry,” the seminar brought together around 150 participants from shipbuilding, shipping, and academia.

The keynote speech was delivered by YOO Hyun Kyong, Head of Public Sector, Microsoft Korea, who discussed the evolving role of AI across industries. In the second session, JANG Hwasup, General Manager of KR AI Convergence Center, introduced KR’s AI platform, MariNote.AI.

MariNote.AI automates tasks such as ship specifications analysis, AIS and port data evaluation, PSC history tracking, and maritime legal terminology standardization. Jang explained, “MariNote.AI presents a new collaborative work model where AI and humans cooperate, transforming project-level data into team-wide knowledge.”

In the third session, KIM Joonbum, General Manager of Cyber Safety Technology Team, presented on the development of smart ship cybersecurity models, followed by LEE Jeonghoon, Senior Researcher of ICT Solution Team, who shared applications of automated structural analysis and design evaluation.

KIM Daeheon, Executive Vice President of KR stated, “The shipbuilding and maritime industry is embracing a new era of AI expansion beyond digital transformation. KR will continue to strengthen global competitiveness in smart ships, autonomous navigation, and digital certification through expanded collaboration with industry and academia.”
