Korean Register (KR) presented major technological and collaborative milestones at KORMARINE 2025, Korea’s largest shipbuilding and maritime equipment exhibition, held at BEXCO, Busan, from 21 to 24 October 2025. The achievements highlighted KR’s strengthened partnerships across industry leaders and its growing role in digitalization, safety enhancement, and decarbonization.
KR has granted Approval in Principle (AiP) for the “EV-Drill Lance Electrification Project,” a joint development by Hyundai Glovis, G-Marine Service, Tanktech, and Yujin Robot. The EV-Drill Lance system enables safer and faster remote firefighting operations, allowing crews to respond effectively without direct exposure to heat and toxic gases.
KR’s evaluation verified the system’s safety and technical feasibility, marking an important step forward in enhancing fire response capabilities for car carriers. CSMS Certification Granted As digitalization accelerates, cybersecurity has become a critical challenge for the maritime industry. In line with IMO requirements mandating the integration of cyber risk management into safety systems, KR has established Korea’s first Cyber Security Management System (CSMS) certification scheme. At KORMARINE 2025, KR awarded official CSMS certification to Hyundai Glovis, recognizing excellence across
Joint Declaration on Safe Maritime Transport of EVs KR and Hyundai Glovis also signed a joint declaration to enhance cooperation on technical standards for safe maritime transport of electric vehicles. The agreement covers
“This partnership marks an important milestone in enhancing vessel safety and cybersecurity. Through continued collaboration with KR, we will strengthen our competitiveness in the global market.”

KR–H-Line Shipping MOU on Digital and Eco-Friendly Maritime Technologies
KR signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with H-Line Shipping to promote cooperation in digital transformation and eco-friendly technology development within the maritime industry.
SEO Hodong, Executive Vice President of H-Line Shipping, stated, “This agreement is a strategic response to the global shift toward digitalization and decarbonization in the maritime industry. Through close collaboration with KR, we aim to enhance operational efficiency based on data-driven insights and strengthen our ability to proactively meet international regulations.”
KR granted the world’s first Type Approval for HiNAS SVM, a next-generation Surround View Monitoring navigation assistance system developed by Avikus, a subsidiary of HD Hyundai Group.
JUNG Taesik, Director at Avikus, commented, “It is highly meaningful that HiNAS SVM has received the world’s first Type Approval from KR. This system enhances vessel safety in complex navigation environments and is expected to become a standard equipment on ships, just like surround-view systems in automobiles.” YEON Kyujin, Senior Vice President at KR, stated, “Through this Type Approval, KR has verified the safety and reliability of image-based navigation assistance systems for maritime application. KR will continue to actively support the development and commercialization of smart ship technologies across the industry.” |
