From July 17th to 25th, KR successfully hosted the “KR Southeast Asia Committee (KRSAC) and Technical Seminar" across Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
KR has been holding annual technical seminars in key maritime hubs of Southeast Asia, such as Singapore and Thailand, with a particular focus on pivotal issues facing the maritime industry and KR’s latest technological advancements.
On July 24th, the KR Singapore Technical Seminar invited over 100 key professionals from the Southeast Asian maritime industry, including representatives from Navig8 Group, Executive Ship Management, and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
The seminar featured a presentation by Fearnley LNG on the "Current Market Trends and Outlook for Newbuilding" and was followed by the annual reception, where the Korean Ambassador to Singapore, HONG Jin-wook, joined more than 200 prominent figures from across the maritime industry.
At the seminar, KR highlighted the latest technology development trends from Korean shipyards, as well as its achievements in “Ship Cyber Resilience”, “Strategies for Addressing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Regulations”, and “Technology and R&D achievements related to decarbonization.”
On July 25th, the KRSAC meeting was held in Singapore, bringing together executives from major shipping companies and other key industry representatives, to engage in in-depth discussions on international maritime issues.
KR’s Chairman and CEO, LEE Hyung-chul, commented, “As the IMO's medium-term measures for GHG reduction are set to take effect in 2027, ongoing discussions between member states are critical for drafting concrete regulations. In this era of regulatory uncertainty, these seminars and committee meetings provide invaluable opportunities to share the latest industry trends with our clients, gather insights into the global maritime industry, and map out responsive strategies.”
Meanwhile, On July 17th, the KR Indonesia Technical Seminar was attended by over 100 participants, including the President of the Indonesian National Shipowners’ Association (INSA) alongside local maritime professionals.
