[Statutory System Certification Team] ISM/ISPS/MLC Certification Seminar – The 3rd Session in 2023

On 15 September, the KR Statutory System Certification Team held an ISM/ISPS/MLC Certification Seminar to provide the latest information on various international conventions and laws related to ISM/ISPS/MLC certification audits of shipping companies.

The seminar was attended by safety and quality personnel from 12 shipping companies and covered topics such as the introduction of the Maritime Transportation Safety Act under the Maritime Safety Act, SEEMP PART III company audit process, IACS UR E26 and ship cyber risk management implementation plan.

Through this seminar, we were able to share and discuss the Maritime Safety Act and Ship Safety Management Company System, IACS UR E26 and Ship Cyber List Management for shipping companies. It was also a good opportunity to share and cooperate on future workplace audits for SEEMP Part III.

[Ulsan Branch Office] Technical Seminar for HD Hyundai Heavy Industries

On 7 September, KR Ulsan Branch Office held a technical seminar for HD HHI's Green System Technology Division.

The seminar was held to discuss the technology related to HD HHI’s methane slip reduction device, followed by a question and answer session on the IMO and EU GHG regulations for ships and the exhaust gas aftertreatment device (methane slip reduction device) being developed by HD HHI's Engine Machinery Division (EMD).

[Mokpo Branch Office] Technical Seminar for H-Ling Shipping Ship Inspectors based at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries

On 19-20 September, KR Mokpo Branch Office held a Technical Seminar on the IGC Code for LNG Carriers for the ship inspectors of H-Ling Shipping based at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries.

The technical seminar was held to improve the understanding of IGC Code requirements among H-Line Shipping ship inspectors. The seminar included a presentation on "Explanation of IGC Code Requirements and Inspection Items for LNG Carriers". The presentation was followed by various questions and discussions on IGC Code requirements and inspection items.

The seminar did not end after these two days, but continued until mid-October, and we will continue the technical exchange with the shipowners.
 
KR Mokpo Branch Office will continue to do its best to improve the customer satisfaction of shipowners and to improve the inspection technology for LNG carriers.

[Statutory System Certification Team] Seminars for Companies with Potential for PSC Detentions

On 22 September, the KR Statutory System Certification Team held a seminar at the KR Busan Branch for 42 domestic shipping companies that may face PSC detentions in the third quarter of 2023. The seminar aimed to provide information on PSC trends and countermeasures, as well as to collect and discuss opinions from shipping companies.

  1) Companies with a history of detention cases in the past 3 years
  2) Companies managing fraudulent ships calling at major MOUs
  3) Other companies considered vulnerable to PSC inspections

Presentation Topics
Latest trends in PSC and major deficiencies, measures to reduce PSC citations and increase PSC awareness, suggestions and questions from shipping companies.

We would like to thank those who helped organize this seminar.We will continue to hold seminars on a quarterly basis to prevent PSC detentions of KR classed vessels.
