Showcased KR’s key digital technologies at a glance Identified technology demand and provided open communication for industry stakeholders
KR successfully hosted the 「2022 KR Digital Technology Seminar」 at the Millennium Hilton Hotel in Seoul on 5 October.
The seminar was held to showcase KR's outstanding digital technology to domestic and foreign customers in the era of digital innovation. With this, KR was also able to understand the changing technological demands in the maritime sector and exchange views with industry stakeholders.
Attended by about 150 domestic academics and industry officials, eight KR experts held presentations on introducing the latest SeaTrust-HullScan and KR mobile application, VR training, digital twin technology, image and numerical data-based fault diagnosis and prediction technology and cyber certification service.
In 2020, KR outlined its vision of a ‘leap forward into digital classification’. The society has been striving to expand classification productivity, as well as improve customer work efficiency by establishing a digital technology roadmap, digitizing the classification process and establishing and connecting internal and external digital networks.
Various KR applications, including its fleet management program e-Fleet and equipment inspection and approval, and integrated management system e-Mesis, were applied to fully digitalize the entire process from the customer's ship survey application to completion. Moreover, by linking SNS services, KR has maximized customer convenience.
Continuous upgrades of SeaTrust-HullScan, a structural analysis software, have enhanced the user interface. The solution is widely acknowledged by the maritime industry, including the world's top three shipyards.
KR is actively developing core technologies for the future. These include element technology that collects and analyzes data for remote inspection of ships. Digital twin and VR technology are also being developed to integrate acquired information to form a virtual environment.
Kim Daeheon, Executive Vice President of KR R&D Division, said:
“This seminar was a significant event where the capabilities and potentials of our maritime officials were gathered as we communicated, and shared KR’s latest digital technology. We will strengthen our competitiveness and through this, we will strive to achieve digital innovation in the maritime industry.”
