KR was founded in 1960 by the late Dr. HUH Dongsik and two surveyors to secure sovereignty in ship survey technology and ensure the safety of Korean ships. KR joined the International Classification Society (IACS) in 1988, one of only 11 classification societies in the world, and is now Korea's only international classification society, ranked seventh in the world. Currently, we have more than 60 branch offices around the world, providing statutory and certification services in 81 countries.
