KR has launched two new digital platforms, PILOT (Platform for Insightful LOw-emission Transitions) and POWER (Performance evaluation for Operational characteristics, Weather & aging Effect and fuel consumption Review), designed to support the shipping industry in developing optimal carbon-reduction strategies and enhancing operational efficiency.

KR participated as the Principal Sponsor in the “TradeWinds Global Shipbuilding Forum 2025” on 21 October at Signiel Busan, marking the first time the event was held in Korea.

Electric propulsion ships generate electrical energy from a power source and utilize it to power the propulsion system and onboard power supply through power converters and electric motors. Electric-powered ships in operation around the world are powered by diesel generators, but in recent years, due to the issue of emissions from ships, environmentally friendly energy sources such as batteries and fuel cells are being used, and ships are being equipped and operated in a hybrid manner that applies multiple power sources such as internal combustion engine generators, fuel cells, and batteries.

Please be informed that the amendments have been made to reflect IACS Resolutions, IMO Circulars and Requests for Establishment/Revision of Classification Technical Rules, and you are kindly requested to apply the amendments to the relevant works according to effective date.
