KR has signed a three-party Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a Joint Development Project (JDP) with Keum Yang Shipping and ALSEN Maritime to develop the conceptual design for an electric hybrid propulsion system for a 2,990 DWT general cargo ship. The MoU signing ceremony took place during the Marintec China 2025 exhibition in Shanghai.

Recently, there has been active progress in utilizing ammonia as an eco-friendly alternative fuel for ships. However, regulations and procedures for safely performing ship-to-ship (STS) ammonia bunkering are not yet fully established. Furthermore, as the ordering and construction of ammonia carriers and ammonia-fueled propulsion ships continue, there will be a need for safe bunkering procedures for these vessels. In particular, since ammonia is highly toxic and can cause serious risks to human life and the environment if leaked, thorough safety management is essential. For safety management, it is necessary to designate and control safety management zones.

This technical information provides an overview of the key amendments related to pilot transfer arrangements adopted at the 110th session of the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC 110), which are scheduled to enter into force on 1 January 2028.

KR held the 36th regular seminar on ISM/ISPS/MLC and PSC at its headquarters in Busan on December 22, 2025. The event brought together approximately 150 safety, quality, and marine personnel from domestic shipping companies to discuss effective management strategies for the upcoming year.
