The new Australian Biofouling management requirements, which are in effect on 15 June 2022, will end their education phase (from 15 June 2022 to 14 December 2023) and become compulsory on 15 December 2023.

All operators of vessels intending to enter Australian territorial waters must provide information relating to biofouling management  through the mandatory pre-arrival report (PAR) in Maritime Arrivals Reporting System (MARS).

According to information posted on the website, please note that a failure to report accurately or comply with a requirement under the  Biosecurity Act may result in penalties, including infringement notices, civil penalties, or criminal prosecutions.

For details, please refer to the attached Australian biofouling management requirements or see the relevant website  (https://www.agriculture.gov.au/biosecurity-trade/aircraft-vessels-military/vessels/marine-pest-biosecurity/biofouling).

Should you have inquiries, please directly contact the Australian Administration (marinepests@awe.gov.au).
