The Korean Register has built up LNG technology for many years. Based on this, the KR LSC (LNG Simulation & Safety Center) was created to support the revitalization of LNG fueled ships and bunkering related industries.
KR LSC opened with September 15, 2020 and provides the following training for shipping companies, shipyards, and equipment and equipment companies.
Process designs training for LNG FGSS
Driver training simulator education based on real-time simulation of LNG ship fuel process
Safety technology training related to LNG Ship to Ship (STS), etc.
Virtual reality-based ship familiarization and operation simulation (ongoing)
Education of LNG FGSS Process Design
A total of seven sessions: three in 2020, three in 2021, and one in 2022
Process Design Basics
LNG fuel supply system configuration and latest technology
LNG DF Engine Technical Overview
FGSS Analysis case / operation procedure / operation practice
Considerations for designing LNG fueled and bunkering vessels
The Korean Register of Shipping prepares a safety technology package for compatibility assessment, risk analysis for STS, and preparation of procedures for offshore LNG STS bunkering using bunkering vessels, and provides safety technology supports for STS LNG transportation work that suits the customer's situation
- Compatibility Study
- Risk Analysis for STS LNG Operation/bunkering
1) STS LNG Operation HAZID
2) STS LNG Operation process HAZOP
3) STS LNG Operation safety system FME(C)A
3) - Safety zone study (Controlled zone)
4) SIMOP (Simultaneous Operation) in port STS LNG Bunkering
LNG Fuelled Propulsion/Bunkering Process Simulation
KR LSC plans to provide customized solutions for commissioning and optimal operation of LNG fuel supply and bunkering systems to customers.
Through LNG process simulation, we plan to provide comprehensive technical services related to eco-friendly fuels including LNG, such as risk analysis and reliability evaluation of eco-friendly fuels such as LNG, hydrogen and ammonia.
R&D for LNG Fuelled Propulsion/Bunkering System
The Korean Register is planning to secure eco-friendly energy propulsion ship technology by securing simulation technology for eco-friendly fuel supply systems such as LNG, hydrogen and ammonia.
Securing eco-friendly ship technology is essential for the development of rules for the application of new technologies such as shipbuilding, and we will actively strive to disseminate the eco-friendly ship technology secured to revitalize equipment and industries.
