  ISO 28000 specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and improving the security management system, including those aspects critical to security assurance of the supply chain. Security management is linked to many other aspects of business management. Aspects include all activities controlled of or-influenced by organizations that impact on supply chain security. These core aspects should be considered directly, where and when they have an impact on security management, including financing, manufacturing, information control, packaging, storage and transporting these goods along the supply chain.
 
  ISO 28000 is applicable to all sizes of organizations from small to multinational in manufacturing, service, storage or transportation at any stage of production or supply chain that wish to:

establish, implement, maintain and improve a security management system;
assure conformance with stated security management policy;
demonstrate such conformance to others;
seek certification of its security management system by an accredited third party certification body;
make a self-determination and self-declaration of conformance with this International Standard
 
  Supply Chain is linked set of resources and processes that begin with the sourcing of raw material and extend through the delivery of products or services to the end user across the modes of transport, including transportation, loading information and relevant activities. The supply chain may include raw material manufacturer, intermediate product manufacturer, product manufacturer, wholesalers, distributors, vendors, logistics providers, trucking industries, train transport, air transport, port terminal operators, shipping transport, forwarders, custom agency, accountant and information agency, importing business.
 
  Changes in International Paradigm
  It has become the most important things to increase the efficiency of transportation of
    goods and assure the security of supply chain in international trade after the terror
    incident on 11th September 2001.
  The country¡¯s competitiveness of international trade may raise by reinforcement of security
     for supply chain.

  Benefit by the security certification. Get violent advantages/disadvantages depending on
     whether getting the security certification or not.

Secure the safety of products
 
  ISO 28000 standard was prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 8, Ships and marine technology, in collaboration with other relevant technical committees responsible for specific nodes of the supply chain. Stakeholders participated in development of the standards are as below.

ISO 28000 standard is based on the methodology known as P-D-C-A(Plan-Do-Check-Action) as below picture and it is constituted to be concurrent with other ISO management systems. ( the ISO format adopted by other ISO management system standard such as ISO 14001.)

  Korean Register of Shipping was accredited by the Korean Agency for Technology and
     Standards (KATS) in September of 2008 as the sole Certification Body in Korea and has
     acted for the assessment and certification of companies under the ISO 28001 standard.
