KR held a technical seminar on May 7 at HJ Shipbuilding & Construction (HJSC) in Yeongdo, Busan. The seminar aimed to enhance understanding of regulatory requirements for the maritime dangerous goods and recent updates to international conventions among HMM’s newbuilding supervisors overseeing the construction of a 9,000 TEU methanol-fueled container vessel.
• Date & Location: May 7, 2025 (Wed), 16:00–17:30 / Conference Room, HJSC, Busan
• Participants: HMM Newbuilding superintendents
• Key Presentations:
– Requirements for the Carriage of Dangerous Goods (CDG)
– Water level detection systems on cargo ships
– Latest amendments to the SOLAS Convention
The seminar provided a comprehensive explanation of SOLAS requirements for the carriage of dangerous goods and how these apply to the methanol-fueled container ship currently under construction.
HMM supervisors welcomed the session, noting it clarified key aspects of CDG compliance and onboard safety equipment. Active discussion followed the presentation, with numerous questions raised on both regulatory interpretations and practical implementation.
Following a request from HMM, KR will continue to provide technical seminars throughout the project and remains committed to supporting the success of ongoing newbuilding efforts through continuous technical guidance and regulatory expertise.
