I Contributing to Enhanced Confidence in Safety, a Key Component of Submarines
KR recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for exchanging submarine technology with HD HHI, aiming to ensure reliability of rules and export of naval submarines and operational safety based on NATO Code. Safety is a crucial factor in submarine construction. Major countries such as the United Kingdom, China, and Germany have established stringent submarine safety certification standards, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has been reinforcing its seaworthiness standards since 2016.
With this agreement, HD HHI will become the first in Korea to adopt a "submarine safety certification system" that adheres to international safety standards. This initiative is expected to enhance the export competitiveness of domestically developed submarines. KR will continue to work closely with HD HHI in enhancing Korean defense industries’ export competitiveness by developing submarines with guaranteed reliability.
