I Broadening the Scope of Alternative Fuel Technology Services and Contributing to the Development of Expertise in Alternative Fuels

KR, in collaboration with Trans Gas Solution (TGS), a renowned LNG solutions provider, has recently launched a "Methanol Bunkering Simulation System" at the LNG Fueled & Bunkering Simulation Center (KR LSC) located at KR's headquarters.

KR LSC was established in September 2020 to promote LNG-fueled vessels and bunkering industries. The center provides technical services and cultivates experts in the LNG field, including the development of education and training programs for maritime industry stakeholders, such as an Operator Training Simulator (OTS) based on real-time simulation of the LNG vessel fueling process and design training using virtual reality.

The newly launched methanol bunkering simulation system is the result of an agreement between KR and TGS to build an Operator Training Simulator (OTS) system used for operational training on LNG-fueled vessels and ship-to-ship bunkering. The development of the system aims to proactively respond to the growing demand for alternative fuels and the associated scale and technology needs of the bunkering industry.

The new system enables KR to provide enhanced comprehensive technical services through the LSC, including customized commissioning, optimal operation and risk analysis for LNG and methanol fueling and bunkering systems.

Since the opening of KR LSC, KR has been providing high-quality training and technical services for LNG propulsion and bunkering simulation. Building on this competitive edge, KR is committed to further supporting the maritime industry's transition to alternative fuels by expanding our scope to include methanol propulsion and bunkering technologies, which are expected to be in high demand by customers.
